The difference between brass and red copper
2024-03-20

1. Red copper

Red copper is pure copper, also known as copper, is copper element, because of its color is purple red and named.

Red copper is pure copper refined from sulfide or oxide copper ore, with good electrical and thermal conductivity, excellent plasticity, easy hot pressing and cold pressure processing, a large number of used in the manufacture of wires, cables, brushes, EDM special electro-etched copper and other products requiring good electrical conductivity.

2. Brass

Brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc, brass composed of copper and zinc is called ordinary brass, if it is composed of more than two elements of a variety of alloys is called special brass. Brass has strong wear resistance, brass is often used in the manufacture of valves, water pipes. Air conditioner internal and external unit connection pipes and radiators, etc.

3. The difference between red copper and brass

( 1) Different colors :

Brass is pale gold* and red copper is rose-red

( 2 ) Different copper content :

Brass contains about 60% copper, zinc has about 40%, and individual brands contain about 1% lead, which is impurities: while red copper contains up to 99.9% copper.

(3) Different strength: brass has higher strength, red copper strength is lower.

(4) Brass with different density has a higher tolerance than red copper

(5) The cutting performance is different, the brass is better, the red copper is poor.

(6) the conductivity is different, the brass is lower, the red copper is higher.

(7) the corrosion resistance is different, the brass is poor, and the red copper is better.
